Reported by The Courier – the news we share raises awareness of equality issues being reported in the media.

The Fife Child Poverty Action reported has highlighted that one in six children in Fife live in households that struggle to meet basic living standards, with more than 13,000 children living in “relative” poverty last year. It found that over 10,000 children were living in “absolute” poverty, which is 21% and 17% of all young people in Fife – this is higher than the Scottish average of 18% and 15% respectively.

The report also sets out how Fife Council, NHS Fife and third sector groups and organisations are working in partnership to help support vulnerable families. With the current COVID-19 pandemic, there are fears that vulnerable families will be thrown further into hardship.
