Diversity Week Fife 2021: Rebuilding Community
All of us at Fife Centre for Equalities would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who hosted, attended and supported the wide range of events that took place as part of Diversity Week Fife 2021!
Message from the Chair of Fife Centre for Equalities, Mrs Lee Ryan:
“As Chair of the Board of Trustees of Fife Centre for Equalities, I had looked forward to welcoming you to our Annual Gathering this evening. However, with COVID cases on the increase and with the impact of self-isolation, I hope you will understand the decision to cancel our event. The wellbeing of our guests, our staff, and our volunteers must continue to be a priority.
If I had been saying a few words of welcome this evening, I would have told you how delighted I am with your support for this event and for FCE. As a Trustee, I have the privilege of insight into the ‘behind the scenes’ workings of the FCE team and over the years it has been fantastic to see the organisation – and the individuals within it – grow from strength to strength.
The theme of this year’s Diversity Week is ‘Rebuilding Community’ and I think that is very fitting indeed. Over the last year, the FCE staff and volunteers showed us their tremendous initiative, resilience, and sense of community in their response and support to others throughout the lockdown periods and indeed beyond. Like many of us, the staff and volunteers had to deal with changes with work and with life and it is testament to their commitment that FCE remained available and responsive to those who needed us.
I look forward to the time when we might safely gather to celebrate community, to acknowledge the work of FCE, and to thank in person the staff, the volunteers and all those who support us.”
Cancellation of FCE Annual Gathering
We regret to inform you that we have taken the decision to cancel the annual gathering tomorrow evening at St Bryce Kirk.
Since yesterday, some of the FCE staff and volunteers’ families have been tested positive for covid. We are concerned that there might be a possibility of unknowingly exposing attendees to the virus.
We apologise for the short notice in taking this decision, however we hope you will understand that we have made this decision for everyone’s best interests and to protect you and others.
If you were planning to attend the event with your friends/family, please help us by letting them know that the event has been cancelled.
We would be grateful if you could confirm with us that you have received this message. You can contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, calling us on 01592 645 310 or texting us on (+44) 7800 005 834.

During Diversity Week Fife partners from the private, public and voluntary sectors work together to celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of life in Fife.
Diversity Week Fife aims to promote mutual appreciation and inclusiveness by highlighting and showcasing the many and varied communities and social interests in the region.
Our theme for 2021 is “Rebuilding Community” – looking at recovering from the pandemic and how we can support each other moving into the “new normal”.
We would love to feature your events as part of the programme for this year. We also have funding (up to £100) to assist small groups with the cost of setting up events.
In the previous years, organisations and community groups hosted events during Diversity Week Fife such as coffee mornings or open doors days – but you are not limited to this.
Do not hesitate to contact us as soon as possible if you have an idea about how to help rebuild community and improve inclusion in your local area and beyond.
To get involved, contact us at email@example.com, call on 01592 645310 or text us using 07800 005 834.
