About the project
The Workplace Equality Minority Ethnic Project is funded by the
Scottish Government Workplace Equality Fund and involves working with Sky Dunfermline Contact Centre to better understanding of barriers to employment faced by minority ethnic jobseekers in Fife. We want to hear from residents from the areas around Dunfermline and within commuting distance in Fife.

Before the lockdown took place, we carried our focus groups and interviews with employees, team leaders and operational managers to review recruitment and employment policies. Our next steps were to run a series of interactive sessions in schools with parents, carers, pupils and recruitment staff, however due to Covid 19 measures we had to revise our activity programme.

About the survey
The survey will take place online to gain better knowledge and understanding of barriers or of what policies and/or practices need to be improved in the current recruitment process at Sky. We also want to find out how much do young people and jobseekers know about careers in media, communications and entertainment industry, Sky being a major employer in the region.

The survey will be complemented with online and/or phone interviews and desk-based statistical research on employment, career development and life outcomes of people from minority ethnic backgrounds in Fife. Findings will be used to design an online training module or webinar for Sky team leaders/line managers, and Multiculture@Sky employee network.
