What's happening at FCE?

Fife Interfaith and Belief Network

In case you missed it, last month we hosted the relaunch of the Fife Interfaith and Belief Network! It was great to meet some new faces as well as refresh connections from the Fife Interfaith Group.

We are currently gathering views on what you would like to see from the group and how the group can bring people with a religion or belief, as well as those who may not necessarily follow a specific belief together.

If you would like to share your views on how the group should take shape, please click here.

Fife Climate Festival 2024

Fife Climate Festival takes place between Saturday 21st September and Saturday 5th October 2024.

The festival is a celebration of community climate action, filled with inspiring and interesting events and activities. It is designed to celebrate the great climate action work already happening within Fife, show what we can all do to make a difference and inspire positive action to tackle the climate emergency.

Building on the success of the first festival earlier this year, this festival will focus on hope for the future. It aims to imagine a world where climate action thrives and what that could mean for Fife.

There are lots of events to take part in, as well as opportunities to submit your own events on the Climate Action Fife website.

Consultations to look out for

Let's talk about bus journeys in Fife:

From Fife Council:

We are carrying out a survey to understand how the council's supported bus network in Fife is performing and whether it is meeting your needs.

The Council has limited resources available and is looking at how to best use these to support and improve Fife’s bus network.  Most bus users are unlikely to notice a difference between a commercial and a supported bus service or journey. In many cases they are run by the same bus operators, using the same buses and drivers. The only difference is how these buses are funded.

Commercial bus services are run by bus operators for a profit. This means that if a route has low passenger numbers and is not profitable, the bus company may stop running that service. When this happens, Fife Council often step in and pay for a bus company to continue to run that service. These are called Supported (or tendered) Services. Bus fares are not enough to cover the costs of running these services which means that without financial support from Fife Council they probably wouldn’t run. The Council funds these Supported Services so that the bus network serves as many people in Fife as possible.
